(Goodwill of Perumal towards Jeevatmas) Part 1

This is a rahasya grantham composed by Sri Swami Vedanta Desikan that lists the goodwill of Perumal towards all jeevatmas. It is His goodwill that enables the jeevatmas to practise the upayam that confers moksham. It is His goodwill that enables the jeevatma to attain moksham where the jeevatmas experiences ultimate bliss. His goodwill is directed towards all jeevatmas. The hardship experienced by a jeevatma is also a result of His goodwill only and we will examine this point in detail in the coming paragraphs.

Pralayam the dissolution itself is a manifestation of Perumal’s compassion towards all jeevatmas. In the 16th slokam of Sri Daya Shatakam, Sri Swami Desikan mentions that pralayam (dissolution) of this Universe is also the act of Perumal’s dayai (mercy). For aeons, the jeevatmas have been accumulating punyas and papams. When the sins accumulated become overwhelming and it appears as if there is no hope for the jeevan to get on to the sat gathi, Sri Daya Devi of Lord Srinivasa initiates pralayam. At the time of dissolution, the jeevans lie in a dormant state incapable of committing sinful deeds. This is akin to a mother forcing her mischievous children to take a nap. When the children wake up after their nap, their tendency to indulge in mischievous deeds diminishes.

Perumal cyclicly creates, protects and dissolves this Universe to give each jeevatma a chance to rectify. He not only rectifies but slowly guides them till they perform bakthi or prapatti which He uses as an excuse to bestow moksham. Bakthi Yogam and Prapatti are sadyopayam. When either of these upayams is performed, Lord Sriman Narayanan feels pleased and bestows moksham. Lord Sriman Narayanan uses the sadhyopayams as a mere excuse to grant moksham and hence He is called Sidhopayam.

For us to follow the right practices to attain moksham, Perumal has given us the shastra which are the command of Perumal. Shastras have more vatsalyam than even the combined vatsalyam of one thousand mothers and fathers.

The Upanishads are the most important part of shastram which reveal to us who the Supreme Brahmam is; the Upanishads reveal to us that Lord Sriman Narayanan is the Supreme Godhead worshipped by Lord Brahmma and Lord Siva. Lord Sriman Narayanan is the creator of Lord Brahmma and Lord Siva. They reveal to us that Perumal is the Supreme Cause of this Universe. Azhwar mentions in the above pasuram that Perumal is the subject of the vidhya studied by him and is also the subject of vidhya he is going to study in the future. A person must study the meaning of the Upanishadic verses under the guidance of an acharyan. Through these upadesams, one must obtain vivekam and know that the jeevatma belongs to Paramatma alone. One must not spend time in despair at the time wasted in not learning about Perumal, but focus instead on the present and must serve Perumal while developing detachment to worldly things (virakthi).

Lord Sriman Narayanan is the one with infinite Kalyana Gunam who always has goodwill towards all jeevans.

ONE THOUSAND TALES FOR ONE THOUSAND NAMES

Lord Anantha Padmanabhan is the One who was in the past, in the present and will be in the future in the same form as Padmanabhan mentioned Dr.Sri U.Ve.Venkatesh  in ஆயிரம் நாமங்கள் ஆயிரம் கதைகள்  in the 48th episode , Vishnu Sahasranamam 48 | Padmanabha. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VFOdqSUPDM0&list=PL8AM1mPgjc_dVw5V-zBfK2rc1QxJam0U7&index=42

It was a time when the Universe was under the deluge waters.  On the water floated a single lotus. On top of that lotus was seated Lord Brahmma.  As per the divine will of Lord Anantha Padmanabhan, with the intention of re-starting the shrishti cycle, Perumal had created a lotus from His navel. In Sanskrit, “nabha”, means navel and “padma” means lotus.

Lord Brahmma who was seated on top of the lotus was unable to see Perumal. He looked around him and wherever his eyes turned they were met with nothing, but water. Lord Brahmma noticed that the lotus stalk went down. He decided to climb down the stalk to discover its origin. Even when he reached the base of the stalk, he was unable to see its origin. When a perplexed Brahmma returned to his seat on the lotus flower, Perumal in the form of asareeri spoke with him and asked him to do tapas. After many years had rolled by (100 years of Brahmma), he could finally see the vision of Lord Anantha Padmanabhan in his mind and it was then that Lord Brahmma realised that the lotus had sprung from Perumal’s navel and that he had been created by Perumal. Pleased with the devotion of Brahmma, Perumal blessed him with Vedic knowledge and directed him to carry out creation. Perumal explained to Brahmma that the lotus on which he was seated represented the wheel of time (Kala Chakram).

We can have darshan of Lord Anantha Padmanabhan  at Tiruvananthapuram. At this Divya Desam there are three doorways through which one has darshan of Perumal. The 3 doorways represent the past, present and the future. Having darshan of Perumal through the three doorways reiterates the fact that Lord Anantha Padmanabhan is the One who was in the past, in the present and will be in the future in the same form as Lord Anantha Padmanabhan.

In Search Of Cosmic Water

Every now and then someone questions the validity of our ithihasas, puranas and the Vedas on the grounds of scientific reasoning. People incredulously believe that science is the ultimate truth when in reality it is still in its infancy and will never catch up with Vedic studies. Recently I was shocked when I came upon a question regarding the validity of the existence of cosmic water in a discourse. The person raised doubts on the existence of pralaya samudram in the Universe. People are already on the fence between theism and atheism and when such people listen to these doubts, it corrupts their minds and confuses them further. Under the cover of providing truthful explanations, the person is corrupting young minds by seeming to provide intelligent explanations. It is very clear that whoever initiated this doubt about cosmic water neither has a clear understanding of science and nor has faith in the Vedic verses. Cosmic is a synonym for outer space, it means extra-terrestrial. Water present in the Universe, that is extra-terrestrial water is cosmic water. Cosmic water is quite real. In our own solar system, the moons Europa, Enceladus, Titan and Ganymede all have oceans.

Water has been discovered in star-forming clouds as early as the 1960s. cosmos Herschel is a space observatory dedicated to uncovering the trail of cosmic water. This observatory identified water molecules in the star-forming clouds and has identified water as the seed of stars and planets.

A pre-stellar core refers to the early phase in the formation of stars. The existence of water vapour in the Universe has been known for a very long time, but the Herschel Observatory discovered water molecules in the pre-stellar core called Lynds 1544. Based on data obtained from Herschel, it is estimated that the amount of water in Lynds 1544 is equivalent to over 2000 times the water present in Earth’s ocean. Water is created from hydrogen and oxygen both of which are abundant in the Universe. The Orion nebula for instance creates enough water every day to fill Earth’s oceans 60 times over.

Recent studies also show that our own planet was completely underwater around 3 to 4 billion years ago. Hence, cosmic-water, deluge-water (Pralaya Samudram) are quite real. The Keplar Space Telescope has recently identified many exo-planets that may be completely submerged in water. Such planets are known as “water worlds”. Some of these planets possibly have oceans that are thousands of miles deep while Earth’s ocean is only 6.8 miles deep.

We must have 100% faith in the Vedas and our ithihasas/puranas and take science with a grain of salt!

This is my humble request to everyone.
