Srimadh Bagawatham - Kapilavataram

Swayambhuva Manu married Shatarupai. He had many daughters and sons. His sons were Priyavratan and Uttanapadan. His daughter Devahuthi was married to Kardamar Prajapathi.

Kardama Prajapati was the mind born son of Lord Brahma. Before proceeding with his task of procreating, Kardamar wanted to obtain the Lord’s blessings. He therefore meditated upon Lord Narayana. Perumal soon came before Kardamar on top of Garudazhwar. As it was Krita Yugam, Perumal had a white complexion; he was dressed in white and wore white pearls. The rishi cried tears of joy which pooled into a beautiful lake called Bindu Saras. Kardamar admired the Lord’s feet held by Garudazhwar in his palms. Kardamar could admire the Lord’s beautiful face and arms but was unable to look at the Lord’s vakshashthalam as it Garudazhwar obscured the rishi’s view. Lord Vishnu understanding the rishi’s desire to see His form from head to toe stood on top of Garudazwar’s shoulders so that the rishi could worship the Lord’s beautiful form.
The Lord blessed kardamar and informed him that his would-be father in law is on his way with Kardamar’s future wife. The Lord then promised to incarnate as Kardamar’s son. After blessing Kardamar, Lord Vishnu did not vanish from the rishi’s view immediately but the Lord turned around so that the the rishi could also enjoy the Lord’s “pinazhagu”.
Swayambhuva Manu’s daughter Devahuthi heard about the excellent character of kardamar Prajapati and fell in love with him even though she had never seen him. Swayambhuva Manu approached kardamar with his daughter Devahuthi and gave her in marriage to Kardamar.
Kardamar continued with his rigorous penance while Devahuthi helped him by doing all the chores. Finally when kardamar came out of his penance, he realized that both he and his wife had aged. He felt sorry that he had not kept up his promise to Lord Brahama to create more people on earth. With his powers, he turned himself into a young man and asked his wife to take a dip in the Bindu Saras. As soon as Devahuthi stepped in to Bindu saras, she was attended by many divine women who helped her to regain her youth.

Thus the couple spent their lives together and soon had nine daughters. One day Kardamar informed Devahuthi that he was ready to retire to the forest leaving all family ties. Devahuthi requested him to instruct her on the way to obtain salvation. Kardamar informed her that their son who was in Devahuthi’s womb would instruct her. He told her that the Lord Himself would incarnate as their son. Kardamar postponed his retirement till the birth of his son as he wished to see the Lord.

Thus the Lord incarnated as Kapilacharya the son of Kardamar & Devahuthi. Kardamar left to the forest after going around Kapilar in the clockwise direction. We should always go around people (anyone) in a clockwise direction or to their left to show respect to the antaryami Bagawan within them.
